Backup Child Care

Thank you for your interest in the Childrens' Creative Learning Centers. If you have any questions regarding backup care you can reach us at (888) 909-2252 or send an email to backupcare@cclc.com. All calls and emails will be returned within 24 hours.

When your primary care arrangement breaks down or is unavailable and you need to make alternative arrangements, this program assists you through arranging backup care at one of CCLC’s 13 Bay Area locations for children ages 6 weeks – 12 years of age.

The benefit offered to Google employees includes 5 usages per year per child free of charge. We highly encourage you to enroll in this program. When preparing for backup care please refer to these helpful tips:

Backup Care Facts

How do I get started?

  • The first thing you will need to do is complete the on-line registration form. It will only take, about 5 minutes to complete. Once you have done that, your child is set to use backup care! Click here to register online.

How much notice do I need to give to use backup care?

  • Please submit your request for a backup care date via the on-line reservation system 24 hours in advance. You can make the reservation sooner if you know ahead of time you will have the need for backup care. Early registration is recommended for peek time such as Spring and Winter Breaks. Reservations will be accepted up to 90 days in advance of when care is to take place.

What should my child bring on a backup care day?

When you make your first reservation, a welcome sheet will be emailed to you along with the reservation confirmation. The welcome sheet will provide you with all the details needed to have a great first day in backup care!

Below is a brief overview of what you will need to do to prepare for the first day of care.

  • Infants and toddlers: Please pack all bottles, beginners' cups, solid foods, diapers and wipes. You will also need a sheet and blanket for napping.
  • Transition – Pre-K: Please bring a lunch, sheets and blanket for naptime (snacks are provided by CCLC in the morning and in the afternoon).
  • School-Age: Pack a lunch (snacks are provided by CCLC in the morning and in the afternoon).
  • Your child will have their own cubby to store their belongings in during the day. Please be sure to label everything!

Lunch: Due to allergies, please do not pack foods with nuts! Hot Lunch is available for $4.00 per meal, vegetarian and regular meals are available. You can indicate your preference for a hot lunch at the same time you request your backup care reservation. Please note that hot lunches MUST be requested by 2pm of the day prior to care. Any requests for hot lunch made after 2pm cannot be honored. Once your reservation is approved you will receive a reservation confirmation via email along with the direct link to our hot lunch caterer’s website. To complete the hot lunch order you are responsible for going to the caterer’s website and completing the “backup care form”. Payments for hot lunch must be made via credit or debit card at the time of ordering from the caterer’s website. The ordering process is very easy and will only take a few minutes.

What can I expect when I drop my child off for backup care?

  • The Director or Senior Head Teacher (depending on what time you drop off) will greet you when you arrive. You will then be escorted to your child's classroom and be introduced to the Head Teacher and Teachers.
  • The teacher will integrate your child into the classroom with the other children, in the older age groups your child will be teamed up with a "buddy" for the day.
  • Head Teacher or Teacher will have time to speak with you to discuss any pertinent information we should know for the day.

How will I know how my child did at CCLC for the day?

  • A daily report will be completed by the Head Teacher, which will outline everything your child did that day! Infants and toddlers will have a detailed report on diaper changes, feeding and napping.

For more information, visit the CCLC website or contact us at (888) 909-2252.

CCLC and the State require some documents before your child can attend our center; please fill out these forms if you think you might be able to use this service. To complete the on-line forms, click here. Typically families fill out the form in advance of their potential need since backup care is for unforeseen child care needs.

Saying Goodbye and Saying Hello

Our "Sign In and Out Log" can be found in the center lobby. Please be sure to sign your child in at the beginning of the day and sign your child out at the end of the day with a full signature. This is not only required by CCLC but also by Community Care Licensing. If someone other than yourself will be picking up your child, please confirm that the person's name is on the emergency list. We will be requiring identification from anyone we do not recognize as an authorized person prior to releasing the child. Please let us know if you need to make any changes on your emergency form.
